The Arch 1979–1980

The artist Eduardo Paolozzi created this massive bronze sculpture in the late nineteen seventies to serve as a gateway for the Paddington area. He designed the work with a geometric, fragmented aesthetic that echoes his fascination with mechanical parts and human anatomy. The structure stands over three meters tall and features intricate patterns pressed directly into the metal surface. These patterns represent the intersection of industrial machinery and biological form, a central theme in Paolozzi's vision for public art.
