Old St. Patrick's Church (San Francisco)

Old St. Patrick's Church stands as the oldest wooden frame church building remaining in all of San Francisco. It began its life in 1854 in a neighborhood then known as Happy Valley, which is now the site of the Palace Hotel in the heart of the Financial District. The building was constructed using materials shipped all the way around the tip of South America, a common but arduous logistical feat during the Gold Rush era.
