Rancho San Miguel (Noé)

You are walking across ground that was once the heart of a massive four thousand acre cattle ranch. In the mid nineteenth century, this entire area belonged to Jose de Jesus Noe, a prominent figure who served as the last Mexican mayor of the settlement then known as Yerba Buena. His property, Rancho San Miguel, encompassed about one sixth of the modern city, stretching from the slopes of the hills around you all the way south toward the county line.
