Mish House

The Mish House, located at 1153 Oak Street, stands as a rare survivor from a time when the neighborhood was still being shaped. Architects McDougall and Sons designed the residence in the Stick-Eastlake style, and it was originally built in 1885 on Divisadero Street. When the city began transforming that corridor into a commercial zone just four years later, the entire structure was physically moved to its current location. This relocation preserved a unique example of late nineteenth-century Victorian architecture that might otherwise have been lost to the city's rapid expansion.
