Hamon Observation Tower

The Hamon Observation Tower is an architectural anomaly in Golden Gate Park. Its copper exterior is perforated with thousands of small, irregularly shaped holes designed to mimic the patterns of light filtering through the park's tree canopy. The architects, Herzog and de Meuron, intended for these copper plates to gradually oxidize over decades, eventually turning the structure a weathered, minty green that will blend directly into the surrounding forest.
