Temperate Asia

The Temperate Asia section of the San Francisco Botanical Garden allows you to experience flora from climate zones similar to San Francisco, but found thousands of miles away across the Pacific. This collection highlights the connection between the coastal environment of the Bay Area and the temperate regions of East Asia. As you walk through, you will see a deliberate display of plants that thrive in these shared conditions, including delicate maples, flowering plums, and the ancient ginkgo tree. During the autumn months, these trees undergo a dramatic color change that rivals any deciduous forest, offering a vibrant display of yellow and orange leaves that cover the garden's boardwalks.
