Tony Bennett Statue

historic

Standing on the lawn of the Fairmont Hotel is an eight foot bronze statue of Tony Bennett. The monument commemorates the singer who first performed his world famous song, I Left My Heart in San Francisco, inside the hotel's Venetian Room in nineteen sixty-one. Local sculptor Bruce Wolfe created the piece after Bennett personally sat for him in an Oakland studio for three days. To ensure the sculpture captured the city's unique character, a specific patina was applied to the bronze to give it the deep, sea-kissed hues found on other historic monuments throughout San Francisco.
