When the original brewery faced bankruptcy in nineteen sixty-five, Fritz Maytag bought the operation to keep the tradition alive. He installed small, hand-crafted copper stills that changed how American breweries approached production. The smell of malt and hops clings to the air near these heavy brick walls.
