Buckminster Fuller's Fly's Eye Dome

The Fly’s Eye Dome consists of a cluster of fiberglass spheres, each punctuated by large, circular openings that create a honeycomb pattern. Buckminster Fuller designed this structure in nineteen seventy-seven as a prototype for a low-cost, portable, and self-sufficient home. He imagined these domes mass-produced and scattered across remote landscapes, complete with internal equipment to recycle water and generate power. He built only three versions before his death, and the one here remains the largest of the original set.
