Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami

The Institute of Contemporary Art in Miami features a metallic, diamond-patterned facade on its primary elevation that reflects the intense Florida sunlight. The museum grew out of a series of pop-up exhibitions and private collections that needed a permanent, public home in the Design District. Architect Aranguren and Gallegos designed the building with a sculpture garden meant to act as a public living room. Irma Braman and the museum board prioritized free admission to ensure local residents could access the rotating galleries.
