Old United States Post Office and Courthouse

The Old United States Post Office and Courthouse features a distinct, boxy Mediterranean Revival style with a three-story arcade of recessed arched windows and a heavy, overhanging tile roof. Completed in nineteen twelve, this building served as the federal anchor for Miami’s early growth, housing the post office, customs offices, and the federal court. In nineteen twenty-eight, Judge Henry Clayton sentenced a local bootlegger here, only to discover the man was actually an undercover federal agent who had been investigating the court staff.
