Freedom Tower at Miami Dade College

The Freedom Tower stands apart with a yellow Mediterranean facade and an octagonal lantern tower that mimics the Giralda in Seville. Built in nineteen twenty-five as the headquarters for the Miami News, it housed the newspaper until nineteen fifty-seven. After the Cuban Revolution, the federal government used the building as a processing center for refugees. Thousands of families received food, medical care, and legal identification there. Today, it operates as a contemporary art museum and a monument to the Cuban exile experience.
