Olympia Theater

The Olympia Theater wears a towering vertical marquee that spells out its name in glowing letters above Flagler Street. When it opened in nineteen twenty-six, the building served as a Mediterranean revival palace, featuring clouds painted on the ceiling and stars that flickered to mimic the night sky. Silent film star Charlie Chaplin once walked these halls, and the theater hosted the premiere of many films. It remains a rare survivor of the era when movie houses transported audiences into fantasy worlds.
