The Historic Alfred I. duPont Building

The Alfred I. duPont Building rises seventeen stories above downtown Miami, distinguished by its white limestone facade and the intricate, hand-painted floral ceilings inside its banking hall. When it opened in nineteen thirty-nine, the tower served as the headquarters for the Florida National Bank. Alfred I. duPont directed the construction to provide a secure, fireproof vault for the region’s wealth following the nineteen twenty-six hurricane. His widow, Jessie Ball duPont, managed the project, overseeing the ornate art deco finishes throughout the lobby.
