Cuban Memorial Boulevard Park

The Cuban Memorial Boulevard Park stretches along Southwest Eighth Street with a series of granite monuments lined up beneath the shade of banyan trees. It serves as a permanent outdoor record of the struggle against Fidel Castro, anchored by a flame that has burned in memory of the Bay of Pigs invasion since nineteen sixty-three. When the site was dedicated, organizers buried soil from every Cuban province beneath the memorial, a gesture meant to keep a piece of the island in Miami.
