The Squibb Park Bridge is a direct pedestrian link connecting the quiet streets of Brooklyn Heights to the waterfront activities of Brooklyn Bridge Park. It serves as a vital shortcut that spares travelers from navigating the traffic of Furman Street by carrying them high above the road. The current steel structure is the second bridge to occupy this exact site, replacing an earlier wooden version that opened in two thousand thirteen. That first iteration became notorious for a distinct, springy gait that some found charming but others found alarming, leading to its eventual closure and demolition. Today, the path offers a stable, elevated route that frames panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline as you transition between the neighborhood and the riverfront.
