Confucius Statue

The fifteen-foot bronze statue of Confucius that stands before you was not always a permanent fixture of this plaza. It was sculpted by artist Liu Shih and arrived as a gift from the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association to commemorate the United States Bicentennial in 1976. Before finding its current home, the statue experienced a nomadic existence, waiting through years of city bureaucracy and moving twice due to shifting traffic patterns and urban planning changes in the neighborhood.
