The building you are approaching was constructed in nineteen hundred and three to serve as a high-end horse auction mart. During a time when seventy-five thousand horses crowded the streets of New York City, this site was a prestigious hub for the city's wealthy elite, including the Vanderbilt and Delano families, who came here to bid on prize-winning polo ponies, hunters, and thoroughbreds. The architects, Jardine, Kent, and Jardine, designed the structure in the Beaux-Arts style, featuring a massive central arched window and four bullseye windows that still distinguish its facade today.
