Wavertree (ship)

The Wavertree is a surviving relic of the age of sail, standing as the last remaining wrought-iron, three-masted cargo ship in the world. Built in 1885 in Southampton, England, she represents a time when global trade relied entirely on the wind. While steamships were already beginning to dominate shorter routes, ships like the Wavertree continued to haul bulk commodities—such as jute, grain, and nitrate—across vast distances, circumnavigating the globe multiple times during her twenty-four-year sailing career.
