The Lyric

The Lyric Theatre stands today as a modern giant, but its foundations hold the ghosts of two historic neighbors. When the theater was rebuilt in the late nineteen nineties, architects literally stitched together the remnants of the original nineteen-oh-three Lyric Theatre and the nineteen-twenties Apollo Theatre. You are looking at a space that forced these two separate performance houses to merge their identities. While the interiors were combined to accommodate a massive, state-of-the-art stage, the original facades from both street sides were preserved and remain as the historical bookends of the current structure.
