Completed in nineteen hundred and two, it served as the headquarters and showroom for a premier haberdashery that supplied custom shirts to the city's elite, including the Vanderbilts, the Astors, and even President Theodore Roosevelt. The firm gained a reputation for refusing to follow passing fashion trends, maintaining a strictly conservative style that catered to a wealthy and traditional clientele.
