You are approaching a point where the city's industrial past and present collide. The ramp you see connecting the High Line to Chelsea Market exists because this entire building was once the National Biscuit Company factory. In the nineteen thirties, the rail line was designed to pass directly through the interior of this complex, allowing freight trains to deliver flour and other raw materials straight onto the factory floor.
