Genesis House

Genesis House stands as a deliberate, architectural study in contrasts within the Meatpacking District. While this neighborhood is defined by its industrial past and bustling streets, this building functions as a quiet sanctuary inspired by the traditional layout of a Korean royal palace. Designed by Suh Architects, the interior space features layered oak beams and shingles that mimic the iconic rooflines of the nineteenth century Unhyeon Palace in Seoul. The building serves as a global flagship for a luxury automotive brand, yet it consciously prioritizes a cultural experience over a standard showroom floor. Instead of just viewing vehicles on the ground level, visitors move through a library, a tea pavilion, and a fine-dining restaurant that draws its culinary techniques from centuries-old royal recipes.
