408 Greenwich Street

The building at 408 Greenwich Street is a notable example of contemporary architecture that purposefully mirrors the industrial history of the Tribeca neighborhood. Designed by Morris Adjmi and completed in 2008, the nine-story boutique condominium uses its facade and massive, arched windows to harmonize with the older warehouse lofts surrounding it. The Landmarks Preservation Commission praised the project as a successful application of modern design that respects the existing scale and character of the historic district. The structure replaced a previous development site that had long been part of the neighborhood's shift toward high-end residential living.
