Roebling Building

The Roebling Building at one hundred and seventy one Duane Street stands as a monument to the family that engineered the Brooklyn Bridge. John August Roebling designed the wire rope that made the bridge possible, and his company established its manufacturing headquarters in this very structure during the late nineteenth century. The building served as the central nerve center for their industrial empire, where the blueprints for massive steel cables were drafted and the business of connecting the boroughs was managed.
