California Lane is a narrow, open-air walkway tucked between Brunswick and Constance Streets, distinguished by its pastel-colored arched doorways and a persistent glow of neon signage. It occupies what was once a dingy service alley serving the loading docks of long-demolished warehouses. During the nineteen eighties, this strip functioned as a gritty shortcut for locals navigating the Valley. Developers eventually replaced the cracked asphalt with decorative tiles and repurposed the brick storage bays into small storefronts, bars, and cafes.
