The Albert Street Uniting Church features a tall, slender spire clad in copper that turns a distinct sea-green color with age. It rose in eighteen eighty-nine, designed by George Henry Male Addison to replace a smaller chapel on the same site. During the construction, a worker fell from the scaffolding and died, leaving the local congregation to gather funds for his widow. The spire remains the most prominent element, reaching high above the surrounding glass towers of the Brisbane central business district.
