Avid Reader

Avid Reader is a bookstore with a corrugated iron awning that runs the entire length of the building, sheltering rows of shelves on the sidewalk. It opened in nineteen ninety-seven when Fiona Stager and Kevin Guy decided to sell books in a neighborhood that lacked a dedicated shop. They built their business on the belief that a physical store creates a community. The store hosts dozens of author events every year, often filling the shop and the street outside with chairs and readers.
