MacArthur Museum Brisbane

The MacArthur Museum occupies the sixth floor of a weathered brown office block on Edward Street. This building served as the South West Pacific headquarters for General Douglas MacArthur during the second world war. In nineteen forty-two, MacArthur arrived in Brisbane to organize the defense of Australia and coordinate the counter-offensive against Japanese forces. He worked from this office for over two years, mapping out the strategy that guided the Allied push back across the Pacific.
