St Michael's Bridge is the heavy stone arch spanning the Lys River, lined with ornate cast iron lamps that glow yellow against the dark water at night. It connects the Korenmarkt to the church of Saint Michael, serving as the primary viewpoint for the city’s three famous medieval towers. In nineteen oh five, the architect Louis Cloquet designed this crossing specifically to create a clear sightline of those steeples, a project that required demolishing several old warehouses to open up the view.
