VIERNULVIER

The Viernulvier building anchors the corner with a bright red ceramic facade, carved with the bold, gold letters of its name. Originally built in nineteen oh six as the headquarters for the Vooruit socialist cooperative, it provided bread, coal, and culture to the city’s working class. When a fire gutted the interior during construction, the cooperative members immediately started a fundraiser to rebuild it even faster. It remains a massive, social hub today, housing performance halls, cafes, and city memories.
