Anse de la Fausse Monnaie

The Anse de la Fausse Monnaie is a small, craggy inlet tucked beneath the Corniche Kennedy. It gets its name from a persistent local legend about counterfeiters who supposedly hid in the sea caves here during the eighteenth century to strike fake coins. While no historical records confirm a mint operated in these grottoes, the name stuck. Today, the narrow cove serves as a swimming spot where the water is shielded from the open Mediterranean, sitting right below the city's busy coastal road.
