The Pont de la Fausse Monnaie is a stone bridge spanning a narrow, jagged inlet where the Mediterranean Sea churns against the cliffs of the Endoume neighborhood. Its name, which translates to False Coin Bridge, comes from a persistent local legend. Smugglers purportedly used the deep, protected cove beneath these arches to strike counterfeit money under the cover of darkness. While historians find no physical evidence of a mint, the name stuck, marking this spot as a home for illicit trade.
