The Cour de l'Etoile d'Or features a tall, weathered wooden gate on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine that opens into a series of interconnected courtyards. For centuries, this space served as a hub for cabinetmakers and artisans who transformed raw timber into furniture for the French aristocracy. During the French Revolution, the courtyard became a site of unrest when local workers organized protests against their employers. A carved golden star still sits above the main entrance, marking the site of their former workshops.
