In the late nineteenth century, this space served as a bustling workshop for artisans, specifically known for housing skilled furniture makers and woodworkers. While the surrounding neighborhood evolved into the modern urban landscape of Paris, this alley preserved its industrial character. Three brothers operated a cabinet-making business here, and their surname eventually became the name of the passage itself.
