Hôtel de Massa

The Hôtel de Massa is a limestone mansion with a facade that arrived in Paris in pieces. Originally built in the Champs-Élysées area during the eighteenth century, the building faced demolition in nineteen twenty-six to make way for urban development. The Société des Gens de Lettres, an association of writers, bought the stones, transported them piece by piece, and reconstructed the entire residence here in the Luxembourg Garden. Today, it serves as the headquarters for that same writers' group.
