Hôtel d'Évreux

The Hôtel d'Évreux features a grand, arched entrance gate topped by a stone coat of arms on the Place Vendôme. Built in the early eighteenth century by architect Pierre Bullet, the townhouse became the residence of Louis-Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, the Count of Évreux. After the count died, the Marquise de Pompadour bought the property, filling the rooms with her collection of art and furniture. It remains one of the most elegant private mansions surviving from that era of French aristocratic life.
