Place Fréhel

Place Fréhel is a small, triangular public square marked by a bronze statue of the French singer Fréhel, who lived in Belleville for years. She sits on a bench, cast in metal, eternally watching the neighborhood streets. This spot occupies land that remained vacant for decades after the demolition of old workers' housing, eventually becoming a place for local musicians to gather. Before it was named for the singer in two thousand and eleven, the space lacked any official identity beyond being a crossroads.
