Hôtel de Breteuil

The Hôtel de Breteuil serves as the official Embassy of Ireland in France. You are looking at a grand private mansion that was completed in eighteen ninety-two for the eighth Marquis de Breteuil. Its architect, Ernest Sanson, designed the facade with inspiration from the seventeenth-century Hanover Pavilion. Inside, the reception rooms feature authentic woodwork dating back to the reign of King Louis the Fifteenth, which highlights the aristocratic history of the family who commissioned it.
