Musée de l'Homme

The Musee de l Homme sits within the sweeping wings of the Palais de Chaillot, a building constructed specifically for the 1937 International Exposition. Its founder, the anthropologist Paul Rivet, conceived this space not merely as a gallery for artifacts, but as a laboratory dedicated to the singular goal of proving that humanity is an indivisible whole. He established the museum at a time when fascist ideologies were rising across Europe, intending for the institution to act as a scientific defense against the era's pervasive theories of racial inequality.
