Saint-Pierre-de-Chaillot

The Church of Saint-Pierre-de-Chaillot is a massive structure of reinforced concrete, completed in nineteen thirty-eight, that hides a deep history beneath its modern facade. While the building you see today belongs to the twentieth century, the parish itself traces its roots back to the eleventh century. This site serves as a link to the literary history of Paris, as the previous church that stood here hosted the funerals of prominent writers Guy de Maupassant and Marcel Proust.
