National Assembly (France)

The Palais Bourbon features a classical Greek facade with twelve massive Corinthian columns facing the Seine. Built in seventeen twenty-two for the Duchess of Bourbon, the mansion became the home of the French National Assembly after the Revolution. In nineteen fifty-eight, during a heated debate over the Algerian War, deputies actually broke into a fistfight inside the chamber. The building remains the primary stage where French politicians argue over the laws that govern the country today.
