The building you see before you is the work of architect Charles Peigniet, who is famously known for his contribution to the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty in New York. While the site has been dedicated to performance since eighteen seventeen, the current structure opened its doors in eighteen eighty-six. Its design reflects the elegance of the Belle Epoque era, and the theater has remained a protected historic monument since nineteen eighty-four.
