Cimetière de Passy

The Passy Cemetery holds a unique position as the aristocratic necropolis of Paris. While other major cemeteries in the city grew from sprawling public demand, Passy became the final choice for the Right Bank elite, including wealthy industrialists, politicians, and renowned artists. Its establishment in eighteen twenty followed the closure of a smaller communal burial ground that had served the village of Passy for centuries. Today, it remains one of the most densely populated burial sites in the city, with roughly two thousand six hundred tombs packed into just over four acres.
