Villa Jeanneret

Villa Jeanneret stands at the end of a quiet, unassuming cul-de-sac, yet it represents a seismic shift in how humans live in cities. Designed by the architect known as Le Corbusier and his partner Pierre Jeanneret and completed in nineteen twenty-five, this house was built for the architect's own brother, Albert. While it sits immediately beside the famous Villa La Roche, it served an entirely different purpose, designed specifically to accommodate the daily needs of a family of five. It acts as a laboratory where Le Corbusier first tested the radical idea of flipping the traditional floor plan of a home to prioritize light and air over street-level convenience.
