Musée Clemenceau

The Musée Clemenceau occupies the quiet apartment where the French statesman Georges Clemenceau lived for thirty-five years. Known as the Tiger for his fierce political intensity, Clemenceau moved into these rooms on the Rue Benjamin Franklin in 1895 after a major political scandal left him in social isolation. He refused to live in official government residences during his time as Prime Minister, preferring this modest ground-floor space where he could maintain his independence. The residence became the nerve center for his most consequential work, including his leadership during the First World War.
