Statue of René Goscinny

You are standing before the first monument in Paris dedicated entirely to the art of the comic book. This bronze statue honors René Goscinny, the prolific writer who breathed life into some of the most iconic figures in French culture, including Asterix the Gaul and the mischievous schoolboy Le Petit Nicolas. The work was unveiled in January 2020, intentionally placed at the intersection of Rue de Boulainvilliers and Rue Singer, directly at the base of the apartment building where Goscinny lived and worked for the final decade of his life.
