Ennery Museum

The Ennery Museum is a preserved time capsule of late nineteenth century Parisian life. Housed in a private mansion at fifty-nine Avenue Foch, it remains exactly as it was when it opened to the public in nineteen hundred and eight. The interior features large wooden cupboards inlaid with mother-of-pearl that hold nearly seven thousand objects of East Asian art. Clémence d'Ennery, the actress and collector who assembled this immense collection, stipulated in her will that the museum must never be altered. She even left a generous endowment to ensure that admission would remain free for the public forever.
