Les Epinettes

The Les Epinettes neighborhood takes its name from a local variety of grape called epinette blanche, a type of pinot blanc that once thrived on the sunny slopes near Montmartre. Before the area was formally annexed into Paris in eighteen sixty, it functioned as a quiet, rural hamlet centered around agriculture and hunting. This heritage of cultivation remains a distant echo, as the land eventually transformed into a major industrial zone during the nineteenth century.
