The Pavillon Vendôme is a seventeenth-century residence marked by its distinct cream-colored stone facade and steep, slate-tiled roof. Built around sixteen fifty-one for Antoine de Merault, the house served as a quiet retreat for a wealthy magistrate. It eventually passed to the Duchess of Vendôme, who added her name to the estate. While other villas in the region vanished under urban growth, this house remains because of the simple, sturdy geometry of its original design and a persistent, quiet endurance.
